December 2019 - Lake District

We try to visit the Lake District at least once a year, we just love the rolling hills and vast lakes that are eveywhere you look. We thought it would be the ideal place to take Bonnie for her First mini break. Of course shes on limited walks but she could still enjoy the sights and smells that we all love.

We arrived late Friday night and spent the rest of the evening planning the following days adventures.

Saturday morning we were up and out early, eager to show Bonnie our favourite lake - Ennerdale water. Ennerdale the most westerly of the lakes, and the most remote. This definitely

makes it a place to escape, even at peak season. The water at Ennerdale is exceptionally clear, and is the only lake, in the lake district that does not have a road running alongside it.

Despite us having walked around this lake countless times, we still adore it and make a bee - line to everytime we visit the lakes. We let Bonnie have a 20 min play and swim and then we left her in the car to sleep whilst we walked the entire lake.

Day 2

We woke up to a blanket of snow, so of course we headed straight into the hills to play in it.

These snow photos are unedited as I found it too difficult to edit them and most are out of focus but, I wanted to include them here. This Blog will mainly be photos and maps and some writing.

The black Labrador is Zac and we were looking after him for the weekend. He's so handsome and Fergus loved having him to play with on the bigger walks.

When we could no longer feel our fingers and toes we decided it was time to move away from the snow and to a little beauty spot called Ravensglass.

Ravenglass is a small coastal village and natural harbour it is historically the only coastal town in the Lake District National Park. If you haven't visited then you should.

I don't have any photos from Ravenglass despite it being beautiful as I left the camera in the car!

We finished our day off in a little dog friendly pub called the Boot Inn in a village called Boot, he had some lovely food and everyone loved the Dog's. We had a short walk around Boot and then finished the day off back in the Boot inn with a hot chocolate to warm up.

Day 3

We visited Penrith and then made the Journey home for a Festive Afternoon that was booked for the afternoon.

Im sure it won't be long until we return to the lakes.
